Dogear Peelback

Look in the upper-right hand corner of this page. The pulsing dogear beckons you toward it. When a user rolls their mouse over the dogear, it rolls open to show a half-screen ad from a sponsor.

Huge interactivity rates, a groundswell of interest from big advertisers, and significant revenue in its first year of operation moved CMP Media to deploy Dogear Peelback across all of its sites.

Dogear Peelback won Best-of-the-Web for the Ad Presentation category from Min's Magazine.

What AdRants said: Dogear "might actually make rich media acceptable"
What MIN's said: CMP has "transitioned the Flashy ad unit from an age of intrusiveness to a new era of audience engagement." (PDF)

My role: I developed the idea for the unit, worked with CMP managers to gain support (developing early prototypes), secured advertiser interest, worked with a developer to flesh out features and create the application, developed pricing and packaging, and launched. I also handled the marketing and PR.
